TWO consummate singer/songwriters of folk and blues…a can’t miss show!
Tickets: $50 (fees not included)
It was the late 1960s on Charles Street in Boston, outside one of the legendary clubs during the folk revival era, when these two new-to-the-scene young musicians first met. They’ve stayed friends ever since with their paths crossing at folk festivals, concert halls and clubs…And now the Avalon stage!
According to the New York Times, with influences from folk, country, jazz and rock, Wainwright’s music is rich, candid and witty, as he “wrings more human truth out of his contradiction than any other songwriter of his generation.” Smither’s folk and blues sound is layered over the ever-present backbeat of his tapping feet, taking “the blues in a direction entirely his own: stoic existential ruminations sung in a pained, weathered moan and set to quietly virtuosic guitar.”
